A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Tina!

Iโ€™m a self-taught graphic designer who loves turning ideas into visuals that tell stories, spark emotion, and create meaningful connections.

Based in Toronto, Iโ€™m in my final year at TMU, with a background in marketing and a minor in communication design. Iโ€™m drawn to design at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, and visual clarity, where thoughtful design helps ideas feel more human and accessible.

My creative journey started early. As a kid, I was always making things โ€” sketching, crafting, experimenting with materials, and finding joy in bringing ideas to life. Over time, that curiosity evolved into a more intentional design practice shaped largely through self-learning, hands-on projects, and continuous exploration.

Music has also played an important role in how I think creatively. Learning piano taught me patience, rhythm, and attention to detail โ€” qualities that continue to influence how I approach design. Photography later became another creative outlet, allowing me to capture emotion, memory, and quiet moments, and shaping my sensitivity to composition and storytelling.

Today, I focus on creating purposeful, brand-driven design that balances creativity with clarity. My marketing foundation helps me think strategically about audience and messaging, while my design practice allows me to translate ideas into thoughtful, visually engaging solutions. I enjoy collaborating with others, learning through feedback, and refining details to ensure each piece feels intentional and cohesive.

Outside of design, I stay creatively energized through photography and hands-on crafts, and find balance through movement and reflection โ€” spaces that keep me curious, grounded, and inspired.

At the heart of my work is a genuine love for learning, creativity, and storytelling, and a desire to design visuals that feel meaningful and memorable.

โ€” MY STORY

Iโ€™m a self-taught graphic designer who loves turning ideas into visuals that tell stories, spark emotion, and create meaningful connections.

Based in Toronto, Iโ€™m in my final year at TMU with a background in marketing and a minor in Communication Design. Iโ€™ve completed 4 design-focused co-op work terms, consistently earning excellent performance evaluations, which strengthened my ability to deliver thoughtful, professional design in real-world, fast-paced environments.

โ€” MY VALUES

Design, to me, is aboutโ€ฆ

01

Curiosity as a starting point.

I design by observing, asking questions, and staying open. Curiosity helps me understand people, context, and intention before jumping into visuals, allowing ideas to grow from insight rather than assumption.

02

Designing with intention.

Every colour, layout, and detail should have a reason to exist. I care deeply about clarity and purpose โ€” creating work that feels thoughtful, balanced, and meaningful, not just visually appealing.

03

Embracing the process.

Design is rarely linear, and Iโ€™ve learned to value iteration, feedback, and refinement. Each version brings me closer to a solution that truly serves both the message and the people experiencing it.

04

Being human-centered.

At the heart of my work is empathy. I aim to design experiences that feel approachable, inclusive, and emotionally resonantโ€”because good design should feel human, not distant.

05 Growing through learning.

I believe learning never stops. Whether through self-initiated projects, collaboration, or reflection, Iโ€™m always looking for ways to grow, evolve, and let my creativity expand alongside my skills.
